Weight Loss Signs

It has been fun to notice nontraditional signs of weight loss. Keep your eye out for yours...some examples...seeing the veins and bones on tops of your feet..narrower fingers...bony shoulders when showering...vertical grooves on outside of thighs...hip bones visible and palpable...smaller armpits when shaving...walking with smoother and longer strides... What are your unexpected weight loss signs?

  1. While I don't regularly shave my armpits I did notice last week that several of my rings are now really loose, meaning that I'm losing fat in my hands. I also find that the weight comes off in odd places making me look disproportionate and that the fat seems to become less dense before there are noticeable changes in my appearance. This I find to be a little uncomfortable since things tend to get jiggly before they start to shrink. I've noticed this in my arms and torso quite a bit. I'm also losing weight faster on my right side than my left which is really weird.

  2. Hi Joe...yeah Julie told us the body would pbly change in unexpected ways. Yeah in your smaller fingers! I have not noticed the less dense fat you mentioned but will pay attention to that now. Hah! I figured as the only male on this blog, you might have a comment about the armpit shaving. Look how much you have changed in weeks! A bit jealous cuz men lose more rapidly than we women. Julie told us we lose fat on the inside first so think about how much less fat is around your precious organs. I like to think about how much healthier and " cleaner" I am in the inside. Keep up the great work!!! Peace...

    1. I forgot to mention you might want to try an abdominal binder....I got mine at Agawam Medical Supply. Julie told us it will make the fat loss look much smoother with a better final appearance. Don't worry...it does not look like a girdle or Spanx...it closes over your belly with velcro and is quite comfie.

  3. I'll have to look into that but probably not during the summer. It sounds HOT (and not in a good way). I;m losing quickly now because I have to lose an entire person. I have to cut my weight basically in HALF. That is why the fat is losing density first, I think, and I'm certain that I will probably lose twice the weight in the first six months that I will in the followingt 6-12. I'm hoping this will take about a year but I'm prepared for it to take two or more depending on when I hit the inevitable plateaus and how long they last. I'm pretty sure I already hit a minor one and didn't lose anything for about two weeks... then we went on vacation and the extra activity (coupled with me not cheating on the diet) go things rocketing forward.

Hi, my 2nd session is tonight. I have to say that I feel pretty good and think I have dropped a few unwanted pounds. My wedding ring had become very tight in the mornings when I would get up from sleeping. Now, I can take it off and on with ease. I have also noticed that my midsection seems less bloated. I'm surprised that I feel this different in one week.

I really stuck to the equal parts protein and veggies. I didn't stray once. Nice to be able to take my children out for ice cream and have zero desire to have one. I even tested myself at the grocery store and found that nothing appealed to me. I'm very encouraged with this newfound progress.

More to come in the next few weeks.

  5. Congratulations Jane! It is great to be at the grocery store and not have food call out your name! Love that your ring is not so tight! These are the kinds of things that happen as we lose weight that we don't always notice.

I'm happy for you on your weight loss and I'm glad you're engaging here so early in your journey. Stay in touch with us on this blog to let us know how you're doing

  6. Congrats Jane!! All those little changes are your body-reminders that fat loss is actually happening. I write mine down in a journal to celebrate them. Reading them later always lifts my spirits and keeps me grounded in fact-based reality when negative thoughts try to "lie" to me by telling me the plan isn't working or that the fat loss isn't "real". Yeah you!!!!

  7. Thanks everyone,

Last night's session was great. At times I'm a bit c fused at what Julie is saying...kinda feel like I'm not following her, but then, I get it. I know you all understand me.

Thanks again and keep the faith! No scales!

  8. When you feel like you're swimming in and out of consciousness like that, those are the moments when she's working with you. It's always subtle but when you feel like you're losing time, you are. I have certain sensitivities to these things so I noticed it more than most but not until my second session.

I remain jealous of anyone who truly doesn't want junk food. That just didn't happen for me - Julie just broke my addiction to it. It's good enough but Jeez... it would be a lot easier if my brain was on auto-pilot with the diet. I'm glad things are going well for you, Jane. I noticed changes within the first three days. I had to tighten my belt for the first time after four.

  9. Bad Breath

Hi all, I'm in my second week and have noticed that my breath is a bit..... Well gross. I use mouthwash, frequently. Since we can't chew gum, or suck on candy, any suggestions?

Anyone else dealing with this problem? I'm hoping its all the gross fat deep down in my body being churned up and metabolized. :)
    Thanks,

    Jane

    1. Hi Jane! Kudos to you in your journey. While I have not noticed halitosis, Julie said we could use breath strips like those at cvs made by listerine.I think there is another brand too. Be sure you are drinking lots of water. I believe the fat metabolism process (ketosis) can cause bad breath. Maybe too much mouthwash is drying you out from the alcohol. A dry mouth tends to produce odors. Good luck and keep burning that fat...

  10. Jane, I have a similar problem only I have a sweet taste in my mouth. It's been going on for me since late January. I'm not diabetic, but my doctor checked my blood and all is well.

I drink a lot of water, so I don't think this is the cause. I've heard others refer to this as ketosis, as Linda mentioned. I've also heard this is healthy - my body is burning fat.

If I have a choice of the sweet taste or bad breath, which I don't, the sweet taste is preferable. But everything tastes SO SWEET that I'm never really sure if the food I'm making tastes good to anyone else.

  12. Jane: munch a few sprigs of parsley. It's a natural breath freshener. Then add it to your salad or as a garnish to your recipes (don't cook it). It will help regulate the dragon breath. For the record, I use mint flavored mouthwash to combat morning breath and for good oral health even though Julie doesn't want us to use mints or cough drops. Julie doesn't have to deal with the social ramifications of us having bad breath or the health consequences of letting our gums rot and, well, I'm still losing weight so...
