Other Food Ideas

The comment was posted to What to Eat" and since that blog entry is a year old, I'm posting it here so more of you will see it. Thanks Anonymous!

Apparently, Siggis yogurt is from grass fed cows. (...remember that whole "free-range" is better for us). That was why we can have Siggis and no other yogurt. I would swear, in our class I remember her saying it was the only kind of yogurt we could have. AND we had to eat it with meat.

Other food ideas:
  • Taco meat on salad
  • Taco meat on cauliflower crust pizza
  • Tuna fish mixed w/ mayonnaise & onions or relish.
  • Tuna stuffed fresh tomatoes - great in the summer.
  • Zucchini lasagna (no pasta in it)
  • Zucchini 'fries' and carrot stick 'fries' (baked in over in olive oil and seasonings of your choice)
  • Zucchini & yellow squash sauteed with onions and a little butter.
  • roasted cauliflower (w/garlic) (have also added onions at times)
  • On the go - - take slices of salami, turkey, ham, or roast beef in a baggie w/ raw carrots or celery or radishes or peppers...etc
  • chicken breast grilled (after marinating in good seasons dressing, teriyaki, or bbq sauce)
  • chicken rolled around a bit of cheese and slice of ham... sauteed briefly on both sides to hold shape then baked (no bread crumbs. Season the outside of the chicken breasts before cooking.)
I run out of ideas too and it feels like I'm always having the same thing over and over. I am always looking for new ideas/recipes. :)

I am not so sure Siggy's has to be eaten with meat, because MILK is a freebie and you don't have to eat meat with milk.

    1. Yogurt isn't a freebie because is not milk.

I have been making homemade soups. You can make different soups so you don’t get bored eating them. I sometimes purchase a rotisserie chicken from the local grocery store and boil the bones. Delicious! Most times I sweat onions, carrots and celery, pour the stock over it and add different meats to it. Sometimes it’s Chicken, Beef, Pork, Sausages, or a combination of it. You can add Kale, Broccoli, Cauliflower, whatever you might like. It’s a complete meal and great for lunch. It’s a perfect harmony between Vegetables and Protein. You can even make a variety of consistency to the soups, like hearty, like a stew, or soupier. Had it for lunch a couple of times this week and I feel the difference and it’s an easy ‘go to’ lunch or dinner. Preparation makes a big difference to our weight loss. I would appreciate what you think and perhaps your ideas. Seems like a snow day tomorrow. Good day to make some homemade soup. 

Julie did say the yogurt was to be eaten with meat.. I just finished my last session so its all fresh in my mind. Just 2 or 3 yogurts per week. They can also be the fruit ones.

    1. The yogurt with fruit is only if it's Siggis.

Can somone clarify the flavors of siggi's that we can eat? I asked Julie specifically about strawberry and coconut 'cause I had bought them in anticipation of being able to eat yogurt and she said NO on these flavors! But I'm seeing folks saying that they eat those - could someone answer this question? I was told vanilla, blueberry and orange ONLY.

  8. Always stick to what you were told, as the program does change from time to time. I've reached a point where I only eat vanilla or plain because I can't remember which flavors anymore and my favorite (orange ginger) is never on the shelves anymore.

I was told only 2 times per weekand always with meat - never as a snack and never without meat.
