Need opinions on this one!!!

I need some feedback on this one.

Julie talked about vivid dreams, and that is sooo true!!! I have lots of vivid dreams!

I have the food dreams that I LOVE, and crazy mixed up dreams that make no sense.

But I have noticed something different. Didn’t pay much attention to these until last night. Seems like every so often I have a very vivid dream that takes my today life and mixes in real life, from the past, very upsetting moments, traumatic moments that have happened to me. We are talking troubling things that happened way in the past.

While I am dreaming I am very upset, when I wake up I am very upset and it takes me a while to get the dream out of my system.

Hmmmmm

Do you think this is my minds way of trying to get me to resort to my old methods of dealing with stress and trauma by eating? Or is it because I am 55 and starting with ‘old timers’ disease!!!

I woke up pretty upset this morning and then thought about what I had dreamt about, and really picked it apart. Interesting…

I really wonder if my mind is trying to get me to eat stuff I will NOT eat!!!

Is our minds that powerful, that smart????

WOW!! Scary!!!

I know Julie impressed upon me in classes how smart our subconsciousness is, but WOW!!!

Interesting!!

What are your takes on this??? I am really curious!! (and if you think I am loosing it, I will welcome those comments too!! LOL)

Is this happening to anyone else????

  1. Hi Linda...I too am 55 and have had nightmares most of my life. I had vivid dreams (violent dreams in which you are aware that you are dreaming) within the 3 weeks of Julies sessions but they dissipated thankfully. I still have many dreams each night and feel I have been busy thinking and not deep sleeping all night long. My trauma history contributes to this and it seems worse in the fall and winter months.I do believe these things help...no caffeine after noon and same bedtime every night and no tv or computer or phone screen one hour before bed. Also exercise during day and exposure to sunshine. I know losing weight causes ketone and metabolic changes which may be affecting our sleep. Ride it out and just let it be.Hope it gets better.

  2. PS....once a week or so I have a dream of myself eating candy or bread....so scary! And I am so relieved to wake and know that I have not slipped. I think our minds/bodies just miss those foods but don't think it is sabotage. When you wake up you can tell yourself "I dont want to want those things" and smile knowing you are getting free of food cravings. I think it is a journey with perhaps tests along the way. Julie said when these desires happen you are just about to drop more weight! So I get happy that someting good is coming.

  4. I think your mind is trying to solve a puzzle in your life. Your mind is confused over past and present behaviors because you've changed. It's like a ledger sheet, trying to balance the two. You can help balance things by staying clear that your present behavior is the correct programming and allow your mind to erase the disk of past behaviors.

I feel this is a good omen dream, because your mind sees the two programs and while you reinforce the one program, the other one starts to have no room to live. Yes, such clarity can certainly bring about weight loss, as you mentally let go of programs you no longer need.

I love a good dream! Sometimes my dreams too are convoluted or scarey, but I love that I can remember so many details days, weeks or even years later. For me, dreams are like reading a good book, only sometimes a few pages are missing and we don't always know how it ends.

I've always been a vivid dreamer and this didn't changed after starting with Julie; the intensity of my dreams is as strong as ever. That said, after sessions with Julie I tend to have a lot of food dreams, which was not a common theme for me prior to this program.

I believe dreams are a way to help us sort things out. I regretted trading in my 1970 Camaro when I was a teenager and I had dreams about that car for decades. I think the dreams had a deeper meaning than literally letting go of the car. It was more about making choices and when my car dream came up, I'm sure if I looked around in my reality, there were many decisions I was in the process of making or debating over ones I had already made. Dreams can be really deep in meaning or quite literal. The fun part is that we get to chose what our dreams mean for us.

Are dreams omens of things to come? Sometimes. My friend dreamed of a white horse jumping through a hoop of fire six times in her life. Each time she had the dream, she found out she was pregnant.

I used to dream about living in more than one place at the same time. My things were in three different places and I couldn't decide where to ship everything - which place did I want to live? The places were always somewhere I had lived and I literally moved within a few months of having that dream.

I had that kind of dream last year, but didn't move.

So, Linda, I say: have fun interpreting your dream. It's great you're asking others what they think. Although I spent more time here writing about me than you! Write some of this down. Go to a bookstore with pen and paper (or an iPad) and look through a dream dictionary or two. Perhaps we can talk in more detail on this via skype, as I enjoy dissecting dreams.

I used to keep a dream journal next to my bed. In fact, there is always a journal and pen near my bed, I just don't use it as often as I used to. After waking from a dream, I would record as much as I could remember as soon as I got up.

Another method I used to help me remember my dream is to tell someone the dream right away. But I live alone, so it might be hours before that happens. Plus, our dreams are usually much more interesting to us than to others - unless they're in the dream!

Sometimes I will look up key words from my dream. I have a handful of dream books and dictionaries, and there are online resources as well.

Remember we were just talking about wicked ‘real’ dreams? Well, I had one early this morning. When I woke up it took me a while to get back to reality. Is anybody watching Showtimes original show “Shameless”? It’s about a very dysfunctional family and I was in the midst of it! What? Where did that come from? So, is it something I ate? Just kidding. But, it really blew my mind.
