Roma

Last night I met up with two of our blog contributors, Linda and Jennifer, at Roma, where we shared stories of our success with the Key Hypnosis Program over a meatless pizza.

I was honored that these women would meet up and share their stories like this. It was inspirational. As a group, we represent a full-range of success on this program:

Maintaining Weight for Two Years

Emilia, owner of Roma, joined us after dinner and shared her Key Hypnosis story. After losing weight with Julie, Emilia has been maintaining her weight for two years.

Emilia - thanks for the delicious pizza, excellent service, and for sharing your story with us! Your comments are welcome!

At Goal Size and Learning Maintenance

Jennifer just celebrated a year on the program and has reached her goal size. She started at size 20 and is now an 8. Read Jennifer's story: One Year.

Weight Loss Phase

Linda and I are in the weight loss phase, following the program to continue our journey to our goal size. Linda was a size 26/28 and is now size 16. See more about Linda and her before and now photos in her post My BEFORE and on the 'weigh' pictures.

My story is all over this blog, but my recent post Down Another Size, shows a photo of me at my largest and another photo from a few days ago.

If you're interested in making a meat-crust pizza, you can follow the pizza recipe I used, which is based on a recipe from Julie.

Or, call Capi di Roma, a day or two ahead of time to request the meat-crust pizza, as it isn't one the menu, and Emilia will have her staff make this pizza for you. Casual dress. Wine and beer only.

  2. You all look beautiful. I've been wanting to have a get together for some time. Would love to meet with others on this journey even tho I'm only a few months into it. I know Linda had said that unlike when dieting was a constant struggle there was a need to meet regularly, but it would be nice to put faces with the wonderful words of wisdom we get to enjoy here. Perhaps if you get together again you might open it up to inviting a few more people if you feel so inclined. I, for one, would love to meet you all.

  3. Visiting at Capa DiRoma was indeed strength building. I, like Linda and Theresa, appreciated Miss Amelia taking the time to have her chef make our "Meat Pizza" perfect------But, it was truly inspirational seeing Amelia after 2 years of being with Julie. 2 years! And she looks gorgeous! Very healthy. What is most amazing is this woman owns A RESTAURANT!!!!!! They make their own BREAD TWICE DAILY!!!! Think about that! She can overlook it!!!!! The smell of bread baking!!!!!!! After 2 YEARS!!!!!! That was another "yes you can!!!!!" moment for me!!!!!! Theresa and Linda, thank you for all of your inspirational words as well, and your dedication to this journey!!!!!!! I am looking forward to our next meeting!!!

  4. It's just me again with another question. As I said in the past, I love looking at all your pictures. Everyone looks so wonderful and healthy, but I have a question about loose skin (which none of you seem to have). I know we've discussed this in the past, and perhaps it's because I'm somewhat older but my arms are definitely becoming bat wings. I know there are all kinds of are routines on the internet, but I was wondering what you are doing (especially those who have contributed pictures because your arms look sensational. I have always had more weight in my upper body and perhaps that is what makes this area more prone to sagging. I do like being thinner, however, it's getting a little scarry to view some of these body parts, lol. I can't do a lot of exercise with my ankle and bad knees, however, I desparately need help for these arms. Anything that you have tried that works? Help is always appreciated.

    1. Unfortunately, there are not many things you can do for certain areas, like your arms. I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but a few people have tried like the dickens to get rid of it, and are now looking into surgery to remove saggy skin. These people have done pretty much everything, to no avail.I am sure that any and all strenghtening will certainly help, but, remember, this skin was stretched for a long long time, and loses elasticity :-( I still have a belly, and a bit of sagging arms, but, I am ok with it-The boobs, on the other hand, are something I will have a surgeon help me part with b/c there ain't nothing gonna help them!!!!

  5. Hi Diane,
Congratulations on your success! Unfortunately, we tend to be our worst critics. We see all of our problem spots as if they were under a microscope. As we age, our skin does loose some of its elasticity but it should shrink a bit over time. Our arms are the worst for showing the extra skin though. I think I would talk to your doctor or contact a personal trainer and see if either can give you an idea on whether this is something that you can change on your own or if you would need medical help to get the look you desire.
I too am starting to have the bat wings, I noticed it the other day when I put my arm out of my car to wave good bye to my kids. Yikes!!! I think it took 5 minutes for that skin to stop shaking:) Best of luck

    2. Adrienne, you are a riot!! I LOVED your comment!!!!! 5 minutes for the skin to stop shaking!!! OH MY!!

I too have inherited, I just can not call them bat wings, I call them angel wings. Actually I have not inherited them, I have EARNED them!!! LOL!!!

Between angel wings and aprons, well, it just isn't a pretty sight!! But as I continue loosing I will deal with it. I am older so I know I won't ever be bikini material, but such is life. I am so thankful to FINALLY be loosing this weight for good!!!

Just continue the good work and something will turn up. I think I remember Julie telling my class she wears spandex under her clothes, and if that is what I got to do, then that is what I will do.

And when I use my arms, I will just have to make sure no one is withing the range of my wings if it will be taking 5 minutes or longer to stop flapping!!!! LOL!!!

  6. I don't leave the house without my Spanx! And I bought a size smaller(at the time), to make everything extra snug! ;) I don't need them for my clothes to fit, but to tuck in the excess skin.

As for the arms...my sisters boyfriend is a personal trainer, and he recommends for me a whole body workout, vs targeting one specific area. So I do lunges, squats, pushups, planks, jump roping, single leg bridges, and arms on the weight machine we have in the basement.

But yeah, I hate my arms. And my thighs/legs. My thighs are huge. I'd love to shave ten lbs off of those suckers!
