Before Your First Session

Here's a question posted as a comment, that I thought would be better answered if I post it for everyone to see. . .
I have been following your blog since I have been put on the waiting list in December. I received the call last week and I will be going to see Julie for my first visit on May 24th. I am a bundle of nerves about everything. I am nervous because I have been overweight most of my life, and I want this to work. I am worried because the person I live with has very bad eating habits, and I am worried about spending all of this money and not being successful.

Do you have any advice for someone like me who has not yet been to a session and is very nervous? Thank you.

My  advice: ask Julie for help with your roommate mojo; she may be able to help you with this. Say it upfront when you first start talking and then answer the questions she asks, so you don't forget or run out of time.

I try to remember, I can only change me. I can't change anyone else.

Have a great first (second, and third) session - and please come back to this blog and tell us about your story

  1. You sound a lot like I was towards my first visit. I was a wreck, and cried the whole way to my first appointment.

I was determined to give it my all. And just in the first appointment I gained all the strength I needed and haven’t looked back. I loved those 3 appointments even though I didn't understand or even remember most of them.

I cook for my husband and my children and many many times, my church and lots of company. I just made a luscious dessert for 35 people last Sunday. I have NOT GONE OFF PROGRAM ONCE!!! We keep emergency food in the house for my husband, he is a serious type 1 diabetic, have not touched the stuff!

YOU CAN DO IT!! I don’t know what she does, but YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Julie talks a lot about free will. Give her your free will!! Yes, there will be temptations, our minds and our bodies are smart, but for me who was a helpless food addict, I have been able to overcome them! There will also be food habits, licking a spoon, dipping finger in to taste while cooking, you will become so aware of that habit that it will amaze you, just give her your free will. For me, it is nothing short of a miracle to be in control of food, literally a miracle for me!!

We go to many meals with many different people, at homes, restaurants, and I have not strayed!!!!!

All I can say is: YOU WILL BE FINE!!!!!!!

Stay in touch on this blog, let us know how you make out! Let us know how you are doing? I have gotten a lot of strength and help here also!!!!

Julie’s was the best money I ever spent!!!! Think positive, I thought plenty of doubts for all of us before and even during my first appointment. I AM THRILLED BEYOND BELIEF WITH MY LIFESTYLE, THIS PROGRAM AND JULIE’S HELP!!!

Sounds like a lot of us were that way. I just finished my last session lastnight. Been overweight for 17 yrs now. In 3 weeks I went down two inches. Now put your trust in Julie and be honest. I coom for teens and they have snacks as well. You will see not even a urge to touch them. Just give her all your will and you will do fine. But I will say. Do not binge til the day you go. Start to prep your body before hand. I did and made it a smooth ride. Good luck and do come back to tell us how you do.

  3. Hello, I'm new to this. I found this blog. I've been on the waiting list to see Julie since February. I saw someone post that they prepped while they were waiting to get in to see her. I lost where I read that and haven't been able to find it but figure anyone could help with that. How would you suggest getting myself ready as far as eating habits go? Also, my husband is a chef and has asked - Does she give out specific information as far as what we can eat? I.e. Handouts, etc. Or should I bring a notebook when I go to this?
    Thank you!
    Sincerely, Trying to patiently wait!

  4. It's all memory. No notebooks or anything-too distracting to her-and you. Each time you will go you will remember more and more. You can call the office and they can help answer questions, or you can post here.

Meats, and veggies. That's pretty much it! The bigger the protein, the better it is for you.

  5. Ok thank you! My husband does the cooking so he wants to make sure he helps as much as he can so this works. Thanks again. I appreciate your response and I can't wait to go! :)

    1. How great that you have a husband who loves to cook! You'll be eating a lot of meat, so if he enjoys grilling - this summer he can go to town grilling meats. Corn is allowed too.

None of us took notes during the session and if you go back to the beginning of this blog, we're all losing weight and you will too.

Best of luck. Please come back and tell us how you're doing once you get started.

Starting soon. Anything special I need to have in the house? Are there certain veggies I can't have? Want to have the food on hand so I don't have to be running to the store. Looking foward to starting!!

Hi! I am having my first session with Julie on Monday and I am so looking forward to this new beginning!

So as I sit here at work I have been reading through these threads to get a feel for what to expect going forward and realized that I need to clean out my "snack" drawer here at work before I leave today. Gone are the snacks that I kept at hand just in case my breakfast and lunch aren't enough. No more Fiber One bars,Quaker Oats oatmeal packets or 100 calorie popcorn bags. But what about my V8 cans? Is V8 juice allowed? Is any alcohol allowed (no, not at work although somedays. . . )

And, am I really reading all these posts and the comments on her site correctly? Women going from a 20-22 to a 10 in 6 months is common? I have 100 to lose and although in a tight 22 now, my most comfortable size was 12-14 (I am 5'9" so that size is probably right for me.

I'll definately be back, and most like ask to be a contributor. I tend to like to share =D

    Wish me luck!!

I have been on the program for 6 months now without cheating at all. It has been fairly easy so far although I am nervous about the day I begin the maintenance part of the program. This will really be the test of my willpower! I started at a size 20 bottom and 1x/2x top. I am now a size 12 and med/lg. I am 5'8" with a large frame so probably size 10 is where I will begin maintenance. Good luck to all of the beginners...let the fast results motivate you to continue. You will be thrilled with the results!!

  10. Anxiously waiting for my first appointment. I'm a bit "head-strong" and am hoping she can "get thru to me"!!! I'm desperate for this life-change. Diabetes and heart disease are just a few miles down the road I'm on now. I need to drop 50 pounds. Your posts are encouraging, as nothing else I've tried has ever worked.
