Game On

There are a number of games many of us played when we tried to lose weight before seeing Julie. We wore lighter clothes, so we would weigh less on the scale at our meetings. We played with our points, so we could eat something really fattening on the weekend; we promised ourselves we would "be good" the rest of the week, knowing all along that wasn't going to happen. We didn't write down what we ate in our journals, so we wouldn't have a clue why we didn't lose weight.

Last week I realized I don't play games with food on this program. Since my refresh appointment was rescheduled a couple of times, I've had time to think about what goes on during refresh classes. I thought about the number of people who "confess" they went on a binge in the days or weeks leading up to their refresh. They said that since they were coming in for a refresh, they "treated" themselves, because they knew that Julie would "reboot" them. Their "confessions" served as a reminder of a way of life I no longer wanted to participate in.

By the time I see Julie later this week, it would have been almost three weeks of "treats" and a whole lot of weight gain, had I played that game. This program takes that kind of game playing out of the equation. Treating myself before a refresh is not something I do and it's not something I've even thought about during the 14 months I've been following this program.

It was a bonus discovering I no longer engage in such games. What a time and waste of energy. I'm happy to put those resources to better use...like running on the treadmill or outside. I'm sure each of you can easily list a few mind games you played while dieting in the past. Has anyone else discovered they no longer play those games?

  1. Yes and I think its because there are no limits on the protein that we can eat and it fills you up longer. Your first paragraph was perfect on the way we use to think....

  2. I am thrilled to announce that there are NO MORE games for me either! and I was a master at the game playing! What a wonderful victory! For me, this plan is so easy, I don't have to think about it and when the cravings hit, it is getting easier and easier to 'tap them away'! I have not once strayed off this program!! Now that is MAJOR for me!!!

So great to read all of your posts and catch up -i just come back from a 10 day cruise and "stayed the course" with no dessert, no bread, no potaotes, no fruit. And it was easy! The only thing I thought about were the waffles - they snelled so yummy, but I did not get them.

Though I Feel like I stayed the same weight, which is OK, I tend to bloat from water weight when I travel. I also watvhed how much people ate - that used to be ME - I always left food on my plate on this cruise.

Just got bloodwork done before my trip - cholesteral, HDL, LDL and triglyerides all great.

I have note been to a refresher yet, no one has called (though I did put myself on the list), I will call to schedule. I am down to a size 10-12 and would love o be an 8.

  4. No more games for me either! I am not on a "diet" any longer. This is just the way I live my life. I have been on this journey With Julie since last March, and it is now just a part of me. I never thought it would be so easy to not even want those treats on Easter, but it doesn't even really appeal to me now.

FYI....I heard Julie has been sick, and they are finishing the new office. Hopefully you will hear from them soon.

    1. I just talked to my cousin and she called Julie for an appointment on December 19th. She just talked to the office today and was told they are still working on November. There were 13 pages of people ahead of her. WOW! Seems like poor Julie's popularity has spiraled.

I called in Nov and just got my call tonight! YAY! So excited and nervous! They did tell me she has been sick, an infection in her vocal chords so she has cut down the # of classes she does a week. This blog has been great to learn a little about the program and get myself prepared. I wondered, though if anyone had thought of a facebook page...seems it would be easier to see what people had posted.

  5. Hi everyone - April here - It's so great to hear about everyone' success and I love all the support we get here. If I could change the subject for just a bit.
A while back quite of few of us gave our suggestions for snacks. I don't personally snack, because I know that Julie said if we were hungry that we were supposed to have a meal, but I guess that means that sometimes I just have smaller meals (also known as snacks???). I was just curious about what everyone is eating for their meals. I know we are all eating meat and veggies, but I was just curious if anyone has interesting ways of preparing said "meat". As I've stated previously, I eat pretty plain. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I did make BBQ chicken once but even though Julie said we can have BBQ sauce I must confess that I had my husband check all the brands to make sure we used the one with the least amount of sugar. That probably was cheating, but I'm really hung up on the sugar aspect. I must confess that I even read the label on the frozen super sweet corn (not the nutritional part but the ingredient label) and found that all it contained is "corn", but I was still weary about using it. I'm so afraid to do anything to stop the losing process. So, what are you guys enjoying for your meals. Please share...

  6. Some meals I've had...I've been on since July and went off for two months and went to refresher and got back on. A few bumps in the road with deaths in family, etc, but that's a 2-3 day of off plan, but I go right back on with no looking back. I know it's not exactly how she's done it, or wants us to, but I'm still trying-and still losing. That said...what we eat here(my husband is now on it too):

    -buffalo chicken wings
    -buffalo chicken tenders
    -ribs
-pork roast with an orange glaze(maybe twice a month)
    -roasted chicken
-pork chops in some sort of marinade
    -steaks
-hamburgers-dh made Louisiana burgers from bobby flay
-salsa chicken(cream cheese on bottom, salsa, diced chicken, and shredded cheese on top)
    -hot dogs
    -steak/chicken on top of salad
    -deli meat-with salad too
    -scrambled eggs with ham steak/bacon/sausage

    Sides:
-grilled zucchini salad(really good! Bobby Flay)
-twice baked cauliflower(made it for Easter-yum!)
-grilled/marinated eggplant(my mother in law is from Italy-so good and easy!)
    -butternut squash chips(amazing!!!)
    -butternut squash fries

That's all I can think of currently. If I think of more, I will post.

Now, she said not to read labels, etc. So I will have BBQ sauce. I'm not eating it every day, let alone every week. Moderation. I've eaten these foods, and I've dropped close to 60 lbs probably. Five pant sizes at least. :) I remember Julie saying we can have spices, sauces as who wants to eat plain food?!? Yuck! Lol!
