Dimmer Switch

Hello All, This is only my second posting, so here goes! I went to Julie in March of this year, 2013. It has been an amazing experience, as it has been for so many people. Before hypnosis there was no off switch for me and if I compare that to a light switch – the light was always on. Julie found a way to turn off that switch….the darkness is nice, rewarding. There has been no real pull to stray from the plan. Now it is November and I am worried, the goal is in sight. I started at size 20, I can now fit into the roomy size 10 clothes and I think I can be an 8/10. My biggest fear is that I get to my goal and I start to add food back in and the light switches on. I need to find a dimmer switch, so I have scheduled a refresher for December 9th. I am hoping Julie will show me how to moderate the light switch. What has life been like at goal for the rest of you?

  1. Molly,
    Congratulations on your incredible success!

Stay out of fear. Trust the process and remember that Julie taught you everything you need to know. You know there will be difficult times. You know maintenance is a whole new game, but one that you can trust to take you to the end of the game: your goal size for the rest of your life.

Yes, Julie has shown you how to "moderate the light switch" - you only need to believe this and continue your journey forward.

Good for you that you're going to a refresher 12/9, as Julie will reinforce what you already know.

I'm not at my goal size, but after yesterday's refresher, I know that I too will see this journey through to own maintenance for the rest of my life.

You have done an incredible thing for yourself - stay the course!

I'm not anywhere near maintenance, but I love your analogy! Congratulations on your healthy life!

  3. Hi, first of all, congratulations on all your success. It's obvious that you haven't had trouble with your light switch. I doubt that you will have trouble in maintenance either. Just like Mr Miyagi in the Karate kid..."wax on wax off", your light switch will "switch on, switch off" with no problems.

The refresh will help too. I go on 12/9 in the afternoon. If your there, come say hi. I have been in and out of the river and want to get down one more size by the end of December. I'm hoping that the refresher will assist me in this last part of my journey.

Focus on your success and not the past. You CAN do this and will do it. Be strong and feel how good you feel.

  4. Jane,
I love your Mr. Miyagi quote! I often quote him too.

  5. Thank you for your replies. I have heard mention of the river a couple of times and I have no idea what it is. My friend went to hypnosis with me and she doesn't remember the river either. Is there a post that explains the river?

  6. Molly,
"In the river" is a metaphor. When you are "on program", you are "in the river". When you are not on program, you have stepped out of the river.

You stay in the river to lose weight and you keep swimming to continue to lose weight.

When you go on maintenance, you step out of the river to one side of the bank where there are foods that you add (one at a time) to your menu. When your goal size clothes become tight, you return to the river and swim until you feel comfortable in you goal size clothes. You repeat this process, of going in and out of the river, until you own maintenance.

At that point, going in and out of the river becomes your natural cycle.
