I've had many long plateaus, but I don't pay attention to how much time has passed. If I think about how much time passes, I get too obsessed with my journey. For me, the less I focus on the process, the more time I have to focus on the rest of my life.
One of the things I like about this program is the fact that I don't have to think about what I'm doing; I just do it. This isn't to say I don't have frustrating times when I don't feel like I'm dropping weight, because I do.
I like to use the approach Julie teaches us to use when we feel the urge to get on the scale or to have sugar, to push the thought away. I did this last weekend when it was just me in a five bedroom house and a bathroom scale like you see in a doctor's office. It temped me several times, but I know that pushing it away brings me that much closer to my next weight drop. I treat plateaus the same way.
So, in an attempt to answer your question more specifically, my longest plateau was five months. It felt as if I didn't drop any weight from Feb. until (boom) late June. Really, the whole time it felt like nothing was happening. But when I bought new clothes at the end of June, I could see it was not true - I had indeed lost weight.
Then early in July (here comes the boom part; wait for it...) BOOM, suddenly I could see and feel the difference, and so could others.
It was well worth the wait.
Julie says these plateaus take as long as they take. Meanwhile, our bodies are healing. So, sit back, relax, keep doing what you're doing, and allow your body to heal.
Once and done. Julie never promised it would be fast. We each heal in our own way. Some of us take longer than others. Some take side journeys. Others go straight down. It is what it is. If you know you're doing what Julie taught you, your weight will drop when the time is right.
Thank you Theresa! I am taking notes as you suggested in my email and composing a post for when I push through this plateau.
I have to really use some mind control to not go crazy and really need to concentrate on the good that is happening and not worry about the size. I would never have gotten this low any other way! A good reminder!!
Thank you everyone for all the recipes and info. I just had my first class yesterday at 12:30pm and i loved the class ...my goal is to lose 20 to 25 pounds at the most and hopefully go down to a size 10 ..i have seen friends and i am so glad someone recommended Julie ..these recipes are really going to help me in the near future ..i too love my sweets specially after supper ..i have realize that if i keep that up and not eating the right food i am not going to be a happy person ..i was getting at that point now that's why i went to Julie. I am looking forward to the next meeting next Tues. thanks again for all your inputs. Cathy
