Meanwhile, I want to address Paula's plea for inspiration:
I am particularly looking for inspiration now, as I am ashamed to say I gained all my weight back and now must start over. Very poor choices on my part, and a number of medical issues - mine and others. So, I am getting back in the river, and looking forward to more of your posts.First, welcome back to the river Paula!

Second, here are a few things to remember as you start you second phase on your weight loss journey.
Remember:
- Forgive yourself. Feeling bad or guilty about what you've done will not help you in any way.
- Leave behind the reasons and the self-judgement around having to start again.
- Believe in yourself and choose to feel good about your journey today.
- Feel proud of yourself for returning to the river and starting once again.
- Leave shame behind, as you can not change the past, you can only change what you do from this moment forward.
- Feel proud of yourself that you have returned to your weight loss journey and do whatever it takes to continue feeling good.
- You can do this; affirm this daily, several times a day if you must.
- You have all the tools within you to reset your body and to stay on program.
- Push away cravings and then push them away again and again until they go away. Repeat as necessary.
- Be patient with yourself and your journey. It may take 2 to 6 weeks for sugar (carbs break down into sugar) to leave your system.
- Losing your weight will take as long as it takes, so make this journey the best it can be.
Are there key-friends out there who are willing to share words of wisdom with Paula? We'd love to hear from you.
Good morning Paula and Teresa;
ReplyDeleteWords of encouragement that my life coach has given me in the past, don't beat yourself up, don't count your days no day one's again. she suggest living in the moment the moment and make positive choices. If your having a bad day or a craving, redirect. take the bad and find something good in it. Talk to the craving acknowledge it and then kindly say thank you but no thank you to the temptation. Treat yourself with kindness, become your own best friend. we as society look to others for our self worth and that is sad. You are worth so much more than you realize, you have done this and for whatever reasons (don't label them or give them reason) you have had a gain. you can do this. Put yourself back in the chair, the one you sat in on your first session. Close your eyes and listen truly listen to your body. Tell it your sorry for the pain it is in and begin to heal. Look to yourself, keep yourself accountable and in everything be good to yourself...right now at this moment life is looking great....continue on my friend.
Aloha Laurie,
DeleteThanks for your wise words of encouragement!
Congratulation Teresa on all you are accomplishing a new consulting business and family videos. Kudos To you my friend and you look awesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laurie!
DeletePaula, we have all traveled a similar road, filled with ups, downs and pot holes! I don't think there is one of us who can say that they have been perfect! I know that I haven't. I think that it is a good sign that you came back here for the support that is always offered, it means that you are serious. It is very easy for all of us to come here and post about our success, our accomplishments and our before and after photos. It is much harder to post that you need help. You've taken that step now, take all of the love and encouragement that we offer. I don't think that there is a single person here who will judge you or anyone else who is struggling and needs that shot in the arm!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it! -- Amy
ReplyDeleteYOU ARE NOT ALONE! I started my journey April 6, 2011 - lost almost 100 lbs - in 15 mos. Took the next 33 mos to put almost all my weight back on. Currently I am 4 mos strong in the river and losing again - of course no scale so I'm not sure how much - but without a refresher - I am motivated by my son's upcoming wedding in June 2016. Thankfully that is some strong motivation and I am fighting my cravings like a warrior. You have the tools. You have her words and visual aids - you know what to do SO JUST DO IT! Annie
ReplyDeleteI to had fallen off of the plan and started to gain.I got scared.I did not want to have to go through losing it again (all of it! )So I jumped back full speed ahead in the river and I can say i am doing just fine. Thanks to all here (on Facebook) who give us the positive words to keep us going.
ReplyDeleteI am now running/walking 3 miles every day. Today I did 3 1/4 miles...
I WILL NOT go back to the old me. Never never. I am much happier where I am and with what I have accomplished.
So if I can do this, you can so get back in that river and swim. You have the tools !!
Good Luck!!! Sacrifice. Compromise Example!!!
Robin

ReplyDeletePaula, exercise is a great addition for helping with stress and getting us connected with nature again.
