Sloppy Joe Pie
Ingredients2 large eggs
1/4 cup half and half
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp or 1 packet mustard
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp white vinegar
4 oz mayonnaise
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 stalks large celery
1 clove garlic
1/3 cup chopped onions
4 oz tomato sauce
1 lb lean ground beef
8 oz shredded cheese
Directions
- Brown the hamburger with the celery, onion and garlic; drain fat.
- Add tomato sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt and pepper. Mix well and let simmer uncovered about 10 minutes or so to blend the flavors.
- Put meat mixture in the bottom of a well greased glass pie plate; mix in about 1/2 the cheese. Spread remaining cheese on top.
- Beat the eggs in a small bowl and whisk in the mayonnaise and cream.
- Pour custard mixture evenly over the cheese.
- Bake at 350 °F (175 °C) for 30-35 minutes until nicely browned.
- Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
No half and half. Julie really went over this in our group.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Julie told me no half and half a few weeks ago. I don't know if this was something that changed along the way or if I didn't remember this.
ReplyDeleteI gave up coffee for the three months,because I couldn't imagine drinking it without the sugar. When I went back to having coffee, I added frothed milk, but sometimes I added half and half.
