Eggs & Oatmeal

Catherine wrote this question about eggs on "Maintenance" . . .
I'm confused on the egg issue. Is an egg the same as meat, or do you have to have meat with an egg?
Also, Julie said we would be introduced to oatmeal. I would assume I would have meat and then have oatmeal in the amount of a vegetable. Any help would be appreciated.

So far as I understand eggs are exactly the same as meat-allowable protein, on it's own, consists of things that had eyes or could have had eyes-i.e. eggs. You don't need to eat meat with it. It does not include the secretions of things with eyes -i.e. cheese, cream etc.

I've never heard anything about being allowed to eat oatmeal. Maybe at some point on maintenance, but not in the initial phase-unless something new has happened.

  2. Eggs are a gray area. It has to have one of the following to be eaten on its own: a) be able to fly or swim, b) have eyeballs. So......it depends on what you feel about them. I always eat them with meat; that is how I resolved that issue.......The only time I didn't was in the very beginning (June 2011) I felt like crap, and the only thing I could get down was egg salad. Other than that, I have eaten them with meat.
As far as oatmeal, yes, you will have to eat that with meat. Any carb that is added back into your diet must never be eaten without.

The things that I find hardest are when the plan changes. I was orig told flavored coffee as long as you were not putting flavor shots. But now its plain only. I am really nervous to introduce any foods. I have lost approx 40 lbs in 6 months. Feel great. Am looking forward to warmer weather to be able to get out and exercise more. The one thing I really miss is popcorn. LOL I was really hoping that seeing we can have corn we could also have popcorn...wrong!! If anyone knows how to introduce without falling back into old habits please inform...thanks for your help
